Well, tonight I got all dressed up and acted in a little church history skit with my family and won a popcorn contest! It was a nice little break to the winter dreary-ness and who'd a thought I could win a cooking contest. (If you don't know me very well, you might like to know that I detest cooking. Hate it. Despise it.) Unfortunately I have to do it! And I'm getting better every day.
This nifty little prize will definitely be an encouragement. I'm
sure of it.It says, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox while he treadeth out the corn" Duet 25:4. ((John explained to me that oxen used to crush the harvested cobs and some farmers wouldn't allow them to eat it while they were working, by muzzling them. God told the Israelites not to do that.)
It will remind me to be kind to my children when they are helping me, and to give them words of encouragement, just like an ox needs food when working.
I'd call that food for the soul.
And now about my dress, since you are dying to know. Or, at least, I'm dying to tell you.
I made it in one day- yesterday, and put in the zipper today.
There are no hems, but I wore it anyway and no one noticed. And if anyone did, they kept quiet about it. (Bless them)
I designed the neckline,the sleeves,
the shirring in the bodice,
as well as an awesome nursing bodice.
(Sorry, no pictures of that) *grin*
My desire was to create an 1830's gown, and considering the horribly ill-fitting pattern I had to deal with, it turned out remarkably well.
I won't bore you with more details, but needless to say, I had a ton of fun creating this dress and I feel beautiful in it.

You were right there by my side baking with me from the time you could sit on the counter. You were baking cookies by yourself by the time you were 7 years old. I don't know what happened, but I do know you CAN cook!!
